AUSTIN, Texas – Tournament officials announced today that tickets are now on sale to the general public for the 2023 World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play when the event returns to Austin Country Club, March 22-26.
“The launch of General Admission tickets means we are less than 70 days away from once again hosting the PGA TOUR's 64 best golfers in Austin,” said Vice President and Executive Director Jordan Uppleger. “This will be an exciting year for fans as we welcome back one of our favorite Longhorns, Scottie Scheffler, as he prepares to defend his title at Austin Country Club. In addition to compelling competition inside the ropes, the 2023 event will once again deliver unique experiences for every type of fan, leaning into Austin’s unique culture of world renowned food, music, drinks, and activities for the family, highlighted by complimentary admission for youth 15 and under with a ticketed adult." The WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play returns for the seventh time to Austin, offering fans the unique opportunity to witness the PGA TOUR’s only regular-season match-play event. As in previous years, the field will be divided into 16 four-player groups. Each group will play round-robin matches within their group on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The player with the best record in each of the four-player groups advances to the Round of 16 for single-elimination match play. The Round of 16 will be played Saturday morning, followed by Quarterfinals that afternoon. The Semifinals take place Sunday morning, followed by the Championship Match and Consolation Match Sunday afternoon.
The 2022 event was won in dramatic fashion when University of Texas alum and fan favorite Scottie Scheffler defeated 2019 champion Kevin Kisner in the Championship Match, 4 and 3. With the win, Scheffler became the youngest player in history to win the event and moved to No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time in his career. With the unique competition format, top-ranked players and a venue set on the Colorado River with the Pennybacker Bridge as a backdrop, the event offers a grounds ticket experience unlike any other.
